Taking action to protect the Arctic environment
Guest : Therese Jacobson, Greenpeace May 6 2012
Oil exploration in the Arctic has many environmentalists up in arms. The ecological risks are extremely high, and additional fossil fuel
exploitation will further exacerbate climate change, according to those that oppose drilling in the Arctic.
This past week, Greenpeace Nordic took action, boarding an ice breaker bound for Alaska in support of oil exploration there. Just back from the direct action, Therese Jacobson, leader of Greenpeace Sweden’s Arctic activities, joins Think Globally Radio this Sunday to discuss the Arctic environment and why it needs protection.
