Saving Urban Environments through the Action of Social Movements
with Dr. Henrik Ernstson, Stockholm Resilience Centre
The green spaces that surround and permeate Stockholm are sometimes taken for granted by city dwellers. Much of this preserved urban ecology and the ecosystem services they provide, however, are the result of dedicated action by networks of local residents and organizations that have helped save such areas from the forces of exploitation.
This Sunday on Think Globally Radio, Dr. Henrik Ernstson from the Stockholm Resilience Centre will discuss the importance of green spaces and ecological resilience in urban areas, as well as his research and experience with social movements that help secure these values. In particular, Dr. Ernstson will provide an in depth account of the formation of the National City Park (Ekoparken) in Stockholm
