Global Sustainability and The Stockholm Memorandum
Guest : Prof. Johan Rockström June 12 2011
World leading environmental experts and visionary thinkers recently descended on Stockholm for the Nobel Laureate Symposium on Global Sustainability: Transforming the World in an Era of Global Change. Think Globally Radio held in-depth discussions with several participants of this high level conference, including Prof. Geoffrey West that was broadcast a few weeks ago; and interviews with Nobel Laureate Mario Molina and Prof. Stefan Rahmstorf, to be featured in upcoming episodes.
This Sunday, Think Global Radio speaks with Symposium Chairman Prof. Johan Rockström, who is also the Executive Director of the Stockholm Resilience Center co-author of the new book “The Great Denial”. Prof. Rockström is one of Sweden’s most prominent voices in warning of the global environmental predicament and in translating scientific knowledge into ideas for policies to meet the sustainability challenge. On this Sunday’s show he discusses The Stockholm Memorandum, which was passed on to the UN High-level Panel on Global Sustainability, and other exciting results of the Symposium expected to influence the international environmental agenda ahead of next year’s Rio +20 Earth Summit.
