Environmental management in the threatened Arctic
Guest : Fredrik Hannerz
The Arctic is the object of a wide range of environmental impacts and a barometer for global environmental change. Understanding regional ecosystems and the role of the Arctic in Earth systems such as climate is therefore of major importance.
One of the main successes of the Arctic Council has been its ability to coordinate and mobilize scientific knowledge in an array of working groups, and to produce major environmental reports that have greatly increased understanding of the Arctic for better environmental management.
Think Globally Radio this week discusses the Arctic environment this week with Fredrik Hannerz, deputy of the climate division of the Swedish Ministry of Environment, who has worked with Arctic issues during Sweden’s chairmanship of the Arctic Council.
