Dealing with deadlock: Ways forward on climate change
Guest : Måns Lönnroth and Bill McKibben November 7 2010
Weeks before COP 16 in Cancun, pessimism prevails on finding a solution to the climate crisis. This week Think Globally Radio talks with two individuals that have devoted decades to understanding, informing and taking action against global warming, to help find a way forward in the years ahead.
Bill McKibben is author of the first popular science book on climate change, The End of Nature, from 1989. His most recent book is Eaarth, which updates the state of the planet 20 years later; he is also the founder of the international network 350.org, which seeks to mobilize a global climate movement.
The other guest this Sunday is Måns Lönnroth, a senior scientist, administrator and policy maker who is one of the lead authors of a new report, ‘An International Climate Investment Community – Breaking the Deadlock’, which offers economic measures for dealing with climate change and is meant as a complement to the UNFCCC process while the world awaits new breakthroughs on the indefinitely stalled climate negotiations.
