Conservation and the revival of European natural heritage
Guest : Staffan Widstrand
A spectacular outdoor exhibition of nature photography in Stockholm shows that, in many parts of Europe, certain species are rebounding after decades of downward trends. “Wild Wonders of Europe” is the world’s largest photography-based conservation project. It reflects the success of long-term conservation efforts in turning the tide against the destruction of natural habitat and the decline of European flora and fauna.
Think Globally Radio starts the autumn by welcoming to the studio Staffan Widstrand, one of the creators of the exhibition, to discuss conservation, nature photography and the notion of “rewilding” – returning exploited areas to their pre-human state – which is gaining traction among many environmentalists.
