Methods for climate mobilization

Motivating individuals, companies and governments to change behavior is no simple task, even if risks associated with global warming are increasingly accepted as scientific fact. Short of a legally binding international treaty, which seems doubtful for the time being, what can be done to combat climate change from the grass roots level?
Thousands of events and actions – ‘work parties’ in the parlance of the organizer 350.org – took place around the world last weekend under the banner of 10/10/10 to raise awareness of the need to cut carbon emissions. This Sunday, Samuel Jarrick and Shiva Niavarani from Klimataktion, the Swedish partner for 10/10/10, will visit Think Globally Radio to reflect on the effectiveness of such coordinated efforts, as well as on what methods for mobilizing grass root action against climate change may be the best way forward in a time of political paralysis.
