The future of Stockholm and its urban environment
Guest : Henrik Waldenström December 4 2011
Stockholm is in the midst of a building boom not seen in Sweden for decades. Major infrastructure and housing projects are ongoing or planned in all parts of the city, sometimes risking Stockholms renowned natural heritage. How can the environment be safeguarded in city planning while Stockholm expands so rapidly?
Think Globally Radio takes up urban environmental issues and citizen activism this week with Henrik Waldenström of the WWF, who was instrumental in the creation of the unique National City Park in Stockholm and is deeply engaged in local environmental issues such as the recent controversy over the removal of an 500 year oak tree. Topics will include preserving nature and conflicting visions over the future urban environment of Stockholm.
